As part of the Bayfront Medical Center’s graduate physician education program and Family Medicine Residency programs, the hospital offers a fellowship program in Sports Medicine . The program is unique in that it offers physicians a teaching environment within a community hospital setting and the opportunity for advanced learning and hands-on patient care in the hospital’s Center for Sports Medicine.
Center for Sports Medicine
Children, teens and adults at all levels of fitness, training and competition are seen at the hospital’s Center for Sports Medicine by a specialized team of physicians, resident physicians, dietitans, nurses and physical therapists. The Center also has on-site radiology, laboratory and rehabilitation.
Highly Qualified Faculty
The faculty physicians are extensively trained in sports medicine and family medicine; all have received certificates of added qualification in sports medicine. Many are avid athletes themselves and serve as physicians for local collegiate sports teams.
Comprehensive Training
Sports medicine fellows receive comprehensive training in the diagnosis, treatment and management of sports injuries for people of all ages, from children through seniors. In addition, fellows manage the medical concerns of athletes, including sports nutrition counseling, exercise training prescription and counseling, and conditions such as exercise-induced asthma and runner’s diarrhea.
